Phase 02 / 04
Sourcing & Technical Development

Build It to Be Made.

RESTORE translates the product into materials, patterns, construction, measurements, and specifications—working through the technical decisions that determine how it fits, functions, and can ultimately be produced.

The System Has to Work Together

One Decision
Affects the Next.

Material affects fit. Fit affects the pattern. Construction affects performance, cost, and how the product can be manufactured. Technical development is where those decisions are tested against one another and resolved as a system.

01

Materials

Weight, stretch, recovery, drape, structure, hand feel, performance, availability, minimums, and cost.

02

Pattern + Fit

Proportion, volume, measurements, movement, balance, and how the product takes shape.

03

Construction

Seams, finishes, components, stitch types, assembly methods, and how the product will actually be built.

Technical Development in Practice

Define
the Build.

Technical development turns design direction into specific, buildable information. Patterns, measurements, materials, components, and construction are defined together to create the technical foundation for prototyping.

01

Pattern Engineering

Translate the design into pattern shapes, proportions, balance, and construction-ready geometry.

02

Measurements + Specifications

Define the dimensions, points of measure, tolerances, and technical information needed to reproduce the product.

03

Materials + Components

Specify fabrics, trims, hardware, and components based on performance, construction, availability, quantity, and cost.

04

Construction Direction

Define seams, finishes, stitch types, assembly methods, and other construction details that determine how the product is built.

What Comes Out of This Phase

Ready for
Sampling.

Technical development resolves enough of the product to move into prototyping with clear direction. Exact outputs vary by project, but the goal is a product that can be tested physically with the technical information needed for the next stage.

Approved Product Direction

Fit, proportion, materials, construction, and key details resolved through development.

Pattern + Specification Package

Updated patterns, measurements, construction information, and technical specifications aligned to the approved product.

Material + Component Direction

Approved or defined fabric, trim, hardware, and component requirements needed to move forward.

Sample Handoff

The technical information and resolved development work needed to begin the next round of physical testing and refinement.

What Comes
Next

Sampling & Refinement

Test the product in physical form, evaluate fit and construction, and refine the details before production.
